16 Apr 1956, Strasbourg (France), by D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE), on adoption by 8 countries of Resolution (55) 34 of 13 Dec 1955, as Resettlement Fund for National Refugees and Over-Population in Europe. Subsequently referred to as Council of Europe Resettlement Fund -- Fonds de réétablissement du Conseil de l'Europe. In 1996, became Council of Europe Social Development Fund (CEF) -- Fonds de développement social du Conseil de l'Europe. Present name adopted 1999. Also referred to by initials CEB.
Promote social cohesion and strengthen social integration in Europe through provision of financial and technical expertise for projects with a high social impact in Member States.
