Union of International Associations (UIA) Round Table Asia-Pacific goes virtual – hosted and powered by Seoul Tourism Organization
UIA’s 8th Associations Round Table Asia-Pacific on 17 & 18 September 2020 will take place in a virtual meeting space set in Seoul
In its 14th year of organizing Round Tables for international associations, this will be the first time UIA will hold the event in a fully virtual format.
The programme of this UIA Associations Round Table will address topics of immediate interest and relevance for associations, such as working with remote teams, finding the ideal destination for an event, association business model innovation, mobilizing resources, achieving goals and finding partners. A keynote speech from the UIA President on the UN’s 75th Anniversary will also be part of the programme.

The Union of International Associations (UIA) has invited 25,000 international associations to participate in its 8th edition of the Survey on International Meetings Issues to uncover how they organize their meetings and conferences. The Report will be released on 12th November 2020 at the annual UIA Associate Members Meeting in Prague and be freely available to the public on the UIA’s website.

The world’s largest multi-sport participatory event - the World Masters Games, founded in 1988 in Toronto, will have its eleventh edition in 2025, marking its historic debut in Asia, as it lands in Taipei and New Taipei City, Taiwan. The recent World Masters Games occurred in 2017 but were suspended for 8 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During these 14-day games, over 20,000 international athletes are expected to gather and compete in 35 different sports.

The Busan Tourism Organization hosted seminars and familiarization tours (FAM tours) during the second week of September, which was the designated official promotional period for MEET IN BUSAN 2023. Some 20 MICE event officials from Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world attended the promotional events, designed to show off Busan’s many advantages as an ideal host city for global MICE events.

The Busan Tourism Organization (BTO) has once again demonstrated the allure of Busan as an attractive MICE destination by securing both the hosting rights of the Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA) Annual Conference 2025 and the World Statistics Congress (WSC) 2027 for the city. The APTA is an international academic society that includes some 450 tourism experts and professionals from 25 countries in the Asia-Pacific, including Korea, the US, China, and Canada.

The 45th Annual Congress of the European Accounting Association was organized in Espoo, Finland in May 2023.
Seppo Ikäheimo, Chair of the Organizing Committee, shares his thoughts after the congress:
The congress was a success. The Finnish local context was very much present in the congress as we treated the delegates with local food like fish, vegetables and reindeer sausage.

A “Unique Venue” is a venue other than a convention center, hotel, or other conventional MICE venue that offers exclusive features and represents the city or country in which it is located. Event planners typically choose a venue based on the theme or purpose of the event, and many planners prefer Unique Venues over hotels and convention centers because they offer a special atmosphere and come with their own special stories.

In light of the changing conference landscape after the pandemic, there is a fascinating new trend emerging called 'Bleisure' (Business + Leisure). This trend sees participants extending their conference trips to indulge in leisure activities such as sightseeing, entertainment, or simply relaxing before and/or after the event. We are intrigued to know if this trend is also prevalent in the market of association conferences.

The biggest and most successful FootGolf World Cup ended the evening of June 6 ceremoniously at Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs in Orlando, FL. Exhausted from nine days of world-class FootGolf on five challenging courses spread across Evermore Resort and Walt Disney World’s Palm Course, 972 athletes from 39 countries ate, drank, sang, and danced to celebrate the six countries which would carry World Cup trophies home: Individual Men - Hungary, Senior Men - Norway, Women – Slovakia.
