The prestigious event is supported by the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government, who provided funding and administrative assistance. The Department of Information and Tourism is a full service bureau providing global MICE organisers with bidding, attendance building activities and on-ground logistical support. The aim is to attract more International Conferences, Exhibitions, and Incentive travel (MICE) activities to be held in Taipei.
“The selection of Taipei City for the 2023 International Dragon Awards IDA Annual Global Summit affirms Taipei City’s reputation as one of the leading Asia MICE destinations” said Shu-Hui Chen, Commissioner of Department of Information and Tourism of Taipei City Government.
According to the 2022 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranking, Taipei City ranks 3rd amongst 62 cities in the Asia Pacific region and ranks 25th amongst cities globally. The success of Taipei city is further boosted with more 160 international MICE events to be held in the city in 2023.
Taipei City is fully equipped to host large-scale MICE events. Over 40,000 accommodation rooms are available across the city, out of which 7,000 rooms reside within over 20 five-star hotels. Organizers are spoiled for choice with a vast selection of meetings and event venues for every need.
In addition to traditional venues like the Taipei International Convention Center, Taipei World Trade Center, and Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taipei City also houses a selection of unconventional venues that showcases unique cultural elements of its history and heritage. For example, the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, which was formally Taiwan's first modern tobacco factory has been transformed into a creative and innovation cluster, with meeting spaces suitable for hundreds of people. In recent years, the Taipei Performing Arts Center and Taipei Pop Music Center have become Taipei’s arts and cultural hub. The Taipei Performing Arts Center was selected by Time Magazine as one of the world's top 100 attractions in 2021.
According to Numbeo’s safety index for 2023, Taipei ranked as the 4th safest city in the world out of 424 cities globally. Taipei scored highly on its good public security, convenient and safe public transportation system and its friendly people. Taipei is one of the most friendly and diverse international cities in the world, welcoming visitors from all cultures and backgrounds. Taipei City won the 2023 Crescent Rating "Most Promising Muslim-Friendly City Destination of the Year (Non-Organization of Islamic Cooperation). In addition, over 100,000 people participate in the Pride March every October to celebrate LGBTQ+ equality.
