The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1963, as European Committee of Metalworkers' Unions. Name changed, 1971, to European Metalworkers' Federation in the Community -- Fédération européenne des métallurgistes dans la Communauté -- Europäischer Metallgewerkschaftsbund in der Gemeinschaft. Took over, end 1994, the activities of Contact Office of Miners' and Metalworkers' Free Trade Unions in the European Communities. Ceased to exist, May 2012, on merger with European Mine, Chemical and Energy Workers' Federation (EMCEF) and European Trade Union Federation for Textiles, Clothing and Leather (ETUF-TCL), to become industriAll European Trade Union (industriALL Europe).

Aims

Represent and defend the interests of workers in the European metal industry.

Activities

Pillars (4): Industrial Policy; Collective Bargaining Policy; Company Policy; Social Dialogue. Various working parties were set up under the Industrial Policy Committee: automobile industry; shipbuilding; ICT; aerospace industry; mechanical engineering industry; white goods. Written agreements setting up European works councils were signed with the management of over 220 companies with Europe-wide operations.
