1974, a Working Committee for the Global Investigation of Pollution in the Marine Environment having been set up in 1972. Currently a major programme of E-XE1118 - Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC). Also referred to as: Global Investigation of Pollution in the Marine Environment; IOC Global Investigation of Pollution in the Marine Environment. Ceased to exist.

Aims

Provide authoritative evaluations of the state of the marine environment at both regional and global levels; identify the requirements for measures to prevent, or correct, marine pollution procedures for assessing and improving compliance and surveillance monitoring of conditions and effects in the marine environment.
