Paris (France), to formalize the involvement of E-XE4161 - UNEP in the U-XE0927 - IOC Committee for the Global Investigation of Pollution in the Marine Environment (GIPME) of E-XE1118 - Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC). Was also referred to by the acronym IOC-UNEP/IGP-GIPME. First session 4 Mar 1992, Paris. As of 2013, ceased to exist.
Aims
Provide overall guidance to IOC and UNEP to harmonize regional and global programmes and actions, and serve as a new instrument for ensuring that scientific advancement in the Programme are made available for action in environmental management, protection and assessment.
