The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


as a programme of European Commission (EC), with the title Interchange of Data between Administrations (IDA). Second phase, IDAII, came into effect Aug 1999. Most recent title and new focus adopted as of 1 Jan 1995. As of end 2009, ceased to exist.


Promote application of information technology and communications technology to support rapid electronic exchange of information among European Union member state administrations so as to improve Community decision-making, facilitate operation of the internal market and accelerate policy implementation. Coordinate establishment of trans-European telematic networks by: promoting implementation of sectoral networks in priority areas; developing network interoperability measures; extending network benefits to EU industry and citizens; cooperating with member states' authorities and Community services; promoting convergence towards a common telematic interface. Improve interoperability within and across current networks so as to cut red tape in administrative processes and improve public access to information; develop trans-European telematics services in priority areas; create a network of networks to enable subsidiary networks to link through national entry points to the EuroDomain. In addition, from 2005, research and deliver infrastructure services based on European interoperability guidelines, focusing on projects of common interest that help with implementing Community legislation and improving interinstitutional cooperation in the field of e-government.

Supports trans-European projects implementing information flows between European administrations that are cooperating in specific EU policy areas; provides horizontal technological platforms and tools that support trans-border information flows by encouraging interoperability between national IT systems; encourages emergence of cross-border services of direct benefit to the European citizen or business.
