History

Founded at 1st Ibero-American Congress of Education, originally functioning as a non-governmental organization. Transformed into an inter-governmental organization at 2nd Congress, 1954, Quito (Ecuador). Statutes approved at 3rd Congress, 1957, Santo Domingo (Dominican Rep). One of 5 organizations within E-AA1237 - Comité de Dirección Estratégica de los Organismos Iberoamericanos (CoDEI).

Encourage educational, cultural and scientific cooperation in Ibero-American countries; guide and help in education, science and culture development issues.
