History

27 Nov 1978, Makkah, by Muslim World League (MWL), at its 20nd session. Endorsed by the Saudi government, 29 Jan 1979. Full title: International Islamic Relief Organization in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (IIROSA).

Aims

Noting that 80% of refugees and victims worldwide are Muslim, as a humanitarian, nongovernmental, non-political organization, serve victims of natural disasters and wars - orphans, refugees and destitute people - worldwide, regardless of their ethnic, linguistic or religious background.

Activities

Organizes relief programmes to provide medical, educational and social services consistent with the social and cultural values of those in need; encourages entrepreneurs; sponsors viable economic projects and small businesses to help victims help themselves and thereby lead an honourable life again. Current projects and programmes include: emergency work; health care; social care; education; development projects; agriculture; vocational training; seasonal projects. Active in more than 100 countries worldwide.
