History
Established by decision of 20 July 2001 of E-XE3068 - Council of the European Union. Supersedes U-XE2092 - Western European Union Satellite Centre. An agency set up under Common Foreign and Security Policy of F-XF2147 - European Union (EU).
Aims
Support the decision-making and actions of the European Union in the context of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and in particular the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), including European Union crisis management missions and operations, by providing analysis resulting from exploitation of relevant space assets and collateral data, including satellite and aerial imagery, and related services.
