History
Founded as the European umbrella organization representing the interests of 80 million disabled citizens in Europe, to continue the work of U-XE1767 - European Forum of Disabled People (FORUM) which ceased to exist on completion of H-XF1713 - Handicapped People in Europe Living Independently in Open Society (HELIOS). Created by disabled people and parents of disabled people who cannot represent themselves. Commenced operations as an independent organization, 1 Jan 1997.
Aims
Ensure disabled people full access to fundamental and human rights through their active involvement in policy development and implementation in Europe.
