History

Established by Council Regulation (EC) No 168/2007 of E-XE3068 - Council of the European Union. Inaugurated 1 Mar 2007. Successor to U-XE3762 - European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC). A decentralized agency of F-XF2147 - European Union (EU).

Aims

Provide assistance and expertise relating to fundamental rights to EU institutions and Member States, when implementing European Union law; engage in data collection, improving comparability and reliability of data, research and analysis; cooperate with international organizations, national specialized bodies and civil society; raise public awareness of fundamental rights; formulate conclusions and opinions to policy makers, partner organizations and those who implement policy and take action on the ground.
