History
Founded 13 May 1961, Vienna (Austria), as International Union of Christian-Democratic and Conservative Students (ICCS) -- Union internationale des étudiants démocrates-chrétiens et conservateurs, at the 3rd International Student Conference, Vienna (Austria), as the official students' organization of F-XF6414 - European People's Party (EPP). Name changed, 1970, to European Union of Christian-Democratic and Conservative Students (ECCS) -- Union européenne des étudiants démocrates-chrétiens et conservateurs to align its member-organizations more closely with efforts to build a united Europe. Current name adopted 5 Jun 1975. 1997/1998, merged with U-XE1441 - United Students for Europe (USE).
Aims
Follow and advocate the principles of personal freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, on a worldwide scale; develop contacts, exchanges and political cooperation among Centre-Right, Christian Democrat, Conservative and Liberal students and youth in Europe; work for a free, democratic and united Europe, inside and outside the European Union; form a better understanding of cultural and political situations worldwide; promote the principles of market economy; exchange information on education policy and other political matters.
