Founded 1 Mar 1998, by Kofi Annan, Secretary General of A-XA3375 - United Nations (UN), to administer, jointly with G-XG7799 - United Nations Foundation (UNF), the gift of US$ 1,000 million announced by R E Turner, Sep 1997.
Serve as the interface between the UN Foundation (UNF) and the United Nations system; facilitate development of high-impact programmes and projects for channelling UNF funds into the UN system; encourage innovative partnerships between the UN and civil society.

Comes under the leadership of UN Deputy Secretary-General and works in conformity with UN Secretary-General's programme for reform.
