No longer exists as a programme, having become 'IUCN Biodiversity Policy Coordination Division'.
Develop policies and economic tools; encourage and assist societies to use biological resources in an ecologically sustainable and equitable manner which does not reduce the diversity of the genes, species and ecosystems involved.
