History

1973, as Group of Seven for Economic Cooperation with Africa -- Groupe des sept pour la coopération économique avec l'Afrique. Subsequently became: Group of Seven for European Private Sector Cooperation with Africa (Group of Seven) -- Groupe des sept por la coopération du secteur privé européen avec l'Afrique (Groupe des sept); and, when operations were extended to cover the Caribbean and Pacific countries: Group of Seven for European Private Sector Cooperation with Africa, Caribbean and Pacific -- Groupe des sept pour la coopération du secteur privé européen avec l'Afrique, les Caraïbes et le Pacifique. Changed title to Business Council Europe - Africa - Mediterranean (BCEAM) -- Business Council Europe - Afrique - Méditerranée, 1996.

Aims

Unite European investors and other operators engaged in economic activity in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries; promote cooperation between the European private sector and ACP countries and private trade and investment in those countries; cooperate with other professional European groups; examine and encourage measures by which private European funding and technical expertise can be made available to the countries concerned and contribute to their economic and social development; assist European institutions and ACP governments on issues of concern to European private sector companies in ACP countries.
