Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being (NDPHS)

Established at a ministerial-level meeting. Proposal for the Partnership introduced 16-17 Sep 2002, Joensuu (Finland), at a high-level F-AA0674 - Northern Dimension (ND) Forum in Social Protection and Health, hosted by the Prime Minister of Finland. As follow-up, an international temporary working group was established, chaired by Finland's Minister of Health and Social Services, which produced a proposal outlining further details concerning the Partnership, presented for a political decision the following year. Operates in accordance with Declaration concerning the establishment of a NDPHS (Oslo Declaration), adopted during the meeting in 2003.
Promote sustainable development of the Northern Dimension area by improving peoples' health and social well-being; contribute to this process by intensifying cooperation, assisting the Partners in capacity building, and by enhancing coordination between international activities within the area.
