History

Founded by the Government of India, as an autonomous body within F-XK0563 - Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), part of the 'Action Programme for Economic Cooperation' of E-XC2507 - Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Countries. Functions as an autonomous body under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and it is India's contribution to the implementation of the various resolutions passed by NAM at its different fora. Since 1998, has been designated by D-XD5720 - South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Secretariat as the nodal institution of India for the SAARC Network of Research Institutions.

Aims

Function as an advisory body to the Government of India on matters pertaining to trade, investment, technology and development issues at multilateral, regional and sub-regional levels; act as a forum for fostering effective policy dialogue and capacity building among developing country think-tanks on international economic issues and promoting South-South cooperation.
