Founded by Ms Aileen Osborn Vanderbuilt Webb, Ms Margaret M Patch and Smt Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay at 1st World Crafts Council General Assembly at the University of Colombia, New York City (USA).
Strengthen the status of crafts in cultural and economic life; promote fellowship among craftspeople by offering them encouragement, help and advice; foster and assists cultural exchange; further wider knowledge and recognition of the craftspeople's works with due regard to the separate cultural and national backgrounds and traditions of its members.
