Founded 29 Jun 1957, London (UK), following proposal 1953, as International Council of Societies of Industrial Designers -- Conseil international d'esthétique industriel. Previously also referred to as Conseil international de design industriel, and in Spanish and German as Consejo Internacional de Sociedades de Diseño Industrial -- Internationaler Rat der Gesellschaften für Industrielle Formgebung und Formgestaltung. Constitution adopted at 1st General Assembly, Sep 1959, Stockholm (Sweden); most recently amended: 30 Sep 1999, Sydney (Australia). Changed title to International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) -- Conseil international des sociétés de design industriel, 1959. Current title adopted 1 Jan 2017. Secretariat currently based in Montréal QC (Canada) since 2005; previously based in Brussels (Belgium) - 1974-1985, and Helsinki (Finland) - 1985-2005.
