Founded

1974

History

Founded as a 'Joint Working Group for Justice and Peace', by F-XF5934 - International Union of Superiors General and F-XF5364 - Union of Superiors General. Became more formalized and adopted the title Justice and Peace Commission of the USG/UISG in 1982; subsequently re-organized in 1987 and 1992. Current title adopted 2002.

Aims

Provide information, resources, and opportunities for USG and UISG members in their efforts to educate their members in the values of justice, peace and integrity of creation and how to integrate them into training programmes; facilitate mutual sharing, express solidarity with and assist in network building among religious congregations and institutes which require support; encourage and facilitate corporate action on justice, peace, integrity of creation concerns initiated by JPIC promoters, individual congregations as well as the Unions themselves.
