12 Nov 1979, Bamako (Mali), on signature of an Agreement between UNESCO, H-XD3424 - Communauté économique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (CEAO) and D-XD4566 - Comité permanent inter-Etats de lutte contre la sécheresse dans le Sahel (CILSS), following recommendation of 4th Summit meeting of the Heads of CEAO Member States, Oct 1978, Bamako. Also referred to as: African Regional Centre for Solar Energy (ARCSE); CEAO/CILSS Regional Centre for Solar Energy. A centre responding to E-XE3028 - African Union Scientific Technical Research Commission (AU STRC). As of 1997, no longer active.
Aims
Control the technologies of renewable energies; take part actively in the development of these technics; create capacities of production within the areas.
