History
5 Oct 1979, Ouagadougou, by 1st Conference of Plenipotentiaries, under the auspices of E-XE4174 - United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). Ceased to exist, 1988, when merged with U-XU2358 - African Association of Cartography (AAC), to form H-XD6329 - African Organization of Cartography and Remote Sensing (AOCRS).

Promote, coordinate and harmonize the policies and activities of Member States in the field of remote sensing.
