Provide support for development of a coherent chemical measurement system in the European Union; promote harmonization of border-crossing measurements to guarantee fair trade and nuclear safety and to combat fraud; promote metrology in chemistry.

Houses 21 mass spectrometers and an ultra clean chemical laboratory. Performs primary isotopic measurements and certification of primary and isotopic certified reference materials. Produces nuclear certified reference materials. Manages and conducts: International Measurement Evaluation Programme (IMEP); Regular European Inter-laboratory Measurement Evaluation Programme (REIMEP); Nuclear Signatures on International Measurement Evaluation Programme (NUMISMEP).
