Established 3 Jul 1978, Brasilia (Brazil), on ratification by governments of 8 countries of the T-XT7889 - Treaty for Amazonian Cooperation (Amazon Pact). Former title in English: Amazonian Cooperation Council (OTCA).
Establish closer cooperation among the eight Latin American countries within the Amazonian areas in order to promote: harmonious development; preservation of the environment; national use of the region's natural resources; full integration of the Amazonian territories in respective national economies.
