The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Founded 1971, the first Emmaus community having been set up Nov 1949, Paris (France), by Abbé Pierre (1912-2007) and the first world meeting of communities having been held 1969, Bern (Switzerland). At this meeting the 'Universal Manifesto of the Emmaus Movement' was adopted. Statutes adopted 1971, Montréal QC (Canada).

Aims

Serve as a link between member associations and secure their mutual aid while respecting their individual autonomy; support emergency and long term actions to assist those who suffer most; fight against causes of human suffering, poverty and injustice; awake consciences to human suffering; take social action, without political, racial, philosophical or spiritual discrimination.
