Founded following 1st Congress, Jun 1950, Paris. Statutes adopted 18 Nov 1963, Copenhagen (Denmark). Formerly known: as International Association of Food Distribution; as International Association for the Study and Development of Marketing and the Distribution of Food Products and Consumer Goods -- Association internationale de la distribution des produits alimentaires pour le progrès des techniques et des services; and, from 1 Jun 1970, Paris, as International Association for the Distribution of Food Products and General Consumer Goods -- Association internationale de la distribution des produits alimentaires et des produits de grande consommation -- Internationale Vereinigung der Verteilung von Lebensmitteln und Gebrauchsgütern. New Statutes adopted on registration in accordance with Belgian law, 6 Dec 1977.

Aims

Raise living standards of consumers, especially in the domain of nutrition, by stimulating technical progress, improving services and increasing productivity of enterprises active in the field of food distribution, developing international trade in food products and improving public health.
