Founded at meeting of planning schools of European institutions of higher education. Initiative for the Association came from Klaus R Kunzmann and Patsy Healey who attended and were inspired by the Annual Congress of the American Association of Planning Schools (ACSP), 1985, Atlanta GA (USA). Charter signed by Foundation Members. Replaces H-XD6609 - International Association for Urban and Regional Research and Education (IAURRE).
Represent interests of planning schools in Europe, at national and international level, and before both public and private institutions.
