Founded as Council of Cities and Regions in Africa – Conseil des communes et régions d'Afrique (CCRA), during 3rd Africities Summit, by merger of U-XK0413 - IULA African Union of Local Authorities (IULA-AULA), African chapter of D-XD2072 - União das Cidades Capitais Luso-Afro-Américo-Asiaticas (UCCLA) and H-XD7815 - Union of African Towns (UAT). Formally launched May 2005, Pretoria (South Africa).
Aims
Promote political dialogue with central and local governments, civil societies and the international community with a view to adopting decentralization amongst Africa's priority development issues.
