The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

as a joint project of International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) (World Bank) and the French government. Office in Harare (Zimbabwe) set up in 1991; Office in Cotonou (Benin) set up in 1992. Developed into a programme under the title Association de gestion du PDM (AG-PDM). Financial partners grew to include Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), 1995. Changed title to Municipal Development Partnership, 2001. Previously also referred to as: Municipal Development Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa -- Programme de développement municipal en Afrique subsaharienne (PDM).

Aims

Empower local authorities in the exercise of their duties in collaboration with the national association of local authorities and the central administration; support local authorities of their associations; disseminate useful and relevant information on decentralization.
