1956, Salzburg (Austria), as International Youth Federation for the Study and Conservation of Nature -- Fédération internationale de la jeunesse pour l'étude et la conservation de la nature. Listed name adopted 1 Aug 1969. Ceased to exist; last General Assembly reported 1993, Costa Rica 1993.

Aims

Organize, promote and encourage all activities which might increase the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of nature and the principles and practice of conservation of natural resources among young people throughout the world; promote the commitment of youth to the principles of environmental conservation; stimulate voluntary action by young people for protection and enhancement of the environment, natural and man-made, and for rational use of the Earth's resources.
