History

25 Jan 1977, Strasbourg (France), as Liaison Committee of NGOs enjoying Consultative Status with the Council of Europe -- Commission de liaison des ONGs dotées du statut consultatif auprès du Conseil de l'Europe, following meetings in 1976 of a Liaison Committee of representatives of Council of Europe (CE) and NGOs. Following change from consultative status to participatory status in 2003, changed title to: Liaison Committee of NGOs enjoying Participatory Status with the Council of Europe -- Commission de liaison des ONGs dotées du statut participatif auprès du Conseil de l'Europe and then Liaison Committee of INGOs Enjoying Participatory Status with the Council of Europe -- Commission de liaison des OINGs dotées du statut participatif auprès du Conseil de l'Europe. Previous full title in English: Liaison Committee of International Non-Governmental Organizations Enjoying Participatory Status with the Council of Europe. Current title adopted, Jan 2005.

Represent INGOs with participatory status, and be the voice of organized civil society at the Council of Europe.
