History
Established following adopted of Regulation (EC) No 460/2004 of the F-XF0667 - European Parliament (EP) and of D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE), as a decentralized agency of the F-XF2147 - European Union (EU).
Operations started, Sep 2005, Crete (Greece).
Mandate amended Jun 2011 by Regulation (EU) No 580/2011. New mandate since 2013 (526/2013).
Aims
Develop a culture of network and information security for the benefit of citizens, consumers, business and public sector organizations in the European Union; help the European Commission, Member States and the business community to address, respond to and especially prevent network and information security problems.
