Founded in pursuance of the Agreement, 21 May 1962, setting up E-XF3184 - CIHEAM - International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) of which it is part. Other institutes belonging to ICAMAS: E-XE5971 - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh); E-XE3980 - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier (CIHEAM Montpellier); E-XE3962 - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (MAIZ). Also known under the acronyms IAMB -- MAIB.
Carry out research and provide training in: land and water resource management with special reference to irrigation; integrated pest management of mediterranean fruit crops; organic farming.
