History

28 Dec 1807, Ghent (Belgium), by Canon Triest, as a lay religious congregation. Approved by the Holy See 22 Apr 1899. Used also to be referred to as: Brothers of Charity of Ghent -- Frères de la Charité de Gand -- Fratelli della Carità di Ghent. Also referred to as Friars of Charity.

Aims

Give assistance to the poor, the sick, the handicapped; provide preschool, primary, secondary, vocational or domestic education; provide social, pastoral and medical services.
