Established by conference of plenipotentiaries of 16 coastal states of the Mediterranean, 1976, Barcelona (Spain). Operated by B-XB1117 - International Maritime Organization (IMO) within the framework of F-XF1881 - Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) Phase II - in the F-XF4234 - Regional Seas Programme.
Aims
Strengthen capacity of coastal States in the Mediterranean; facilitate cooperation in preventing pollution from ships; combating marine pollution caused by major marine pollution incidents.
