Founded at 13th International Congress of Psychology, developing from International Organizing Committees of the earliest Congresses, the first International Congress of Psychology having been held in 1889, Paris (France). Statutes most recently modified in 2012.


Enhance and promote the development of the science and profession of psychology; exchange ideas and scientific information between psychologists of different countries; contribute to psychological knowledge through publishing activities; foster the exchange of publications and other forms of communication; foster excellence in standards for education, training, research and the applications of psychology; enable development of psychological scientists and national associations through capacity building activities; foster international exchange, especially among students and young researchers; collaborate with other international, regional and national organizations in matters of mutual interest.
