History

Founded 1908, Fribourg (Switzerland), as International Federation for the Teaching of Home Economics -- Fédération internationale pour le développement de l'enseignement ménager -- Internationaler Verband für Hauswirtschaftsunterricht. Subsequently known also in French as Fédération internationale pour l'enseignement ménager (FIEM) and in Frencha dn Spanish as Fédération internationale pour l'économie familiale (FIEF) -- Federación Internacional para la Economia Familiar (FIEF). Present title adopted 1968. Current constitution adopted/amended, 29 July 2010, Sligo (Ireland). Previously registered in accordance with the Swiss Civil Code and subsequently in accordance with French law. Since 2001, registered in accordance with German law.

Aims

Improve the quality of everyday life for individuals, families and households, through promotion of science, in particular of home economics, education, research and communication, and through development and presentation of political statements in national and international context; work to advance protection of families; promote equal rights for men and women; support education of children, popular education and vocational training.
