Sept 1983, within the framework of E-XE4115 - International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and F-XF2522 - Southern African Development Community (SADC), following decision of meeting of SADCC Heads of State, 1980, Lusaka (Zambia). Assume ceased to exist.
Strengthen national research capacities of SADC countries through training and provision of plant genetic material in partnership with national research programmes; carry out research programmes to build regional capacities in sorghum and pearl millet, improve productivity on smallholder farms and develop new technology to improve productivity of cropping systems; promote technology exchange and stimulate its adoption.
