IASPEI/IAVCEI Joint Commission on Physics and Chemistry of Earth Materials
Contact DetailsAvailable with paid subscription only.
Founded 1996, as a joint commission of B-XB1344 - International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior (IASPEI) and B-XB1369 - International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI), replacing U-XE2190 - IASPEI Commission on Physical and Chemical Properties of Materials of the Earth's Interior. Previously also referred to as IASPEI-IAVCEI Inter-Association Commission on Physical and Chemical Properties of Materials of the Earth's Interior. Previously also co-chaired by B-XB1292 - International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA).
Encourage and facilitate both experimental and theoretical interdisciplinary research and discussion on the nature and dynamics of the Earth's interior; further understanding of the planet's evolution since creation, notably through characterization of the nature and dynamics of materials, melts and magmas that make up the interior; further appreciation of geophysical and geochemical measurements and the uncertainties in them so as to facilitate informed application of the constraints they impose in models developed in geophysics, geochemistry, petrology and volcanology.
