Founded 1563, at the Congregatio of the Roman College; established canonically Dec 1584, by Pope Gregory XIII, as the Prima Primaria. On 2 Jul 1953, Rome (Italy), on approval of statutes by Pope Pius XII, was formed into World Federation of the Sodalities of Our Lady -- Fédération mondiale des congrégations mariales. Subsequently, name changed to World Federation of Christian Life Communities (WFCLC) -- Federation mondiale des communautés de vie chrétienne (FMCVX) -- Federación Mundial de las Comunidades de Vida Cristiana (FMCVX) -- Weltverband der Gemeinschaften Christlichen Lebens -- Federazione Mondiale delle Comunità di Vita Cristiana, and new General Principles adopted 1967, Rome. Present name and revised General Principles adopted by World CLC Assembly, 7 Sep 1990, Guadalajara (Mexico); canonically confirmed by the Holy See, 3 Dec 1990.
