History

Founded 1563, at the Congregatio of the Roman College; established canonically Dec 1584, by Pope Gregory XIII, as the Prima Primaria. On 2 July 1953, Rome (Italy), on approval of statutes by Pope Pius XII, was formed into World Federation of the Sodalities of Our Lady -- Fédération mondiale des congrégations mariales. Subsequently, name changed to World Federation of Christian Life Communities (WFCLC) -- Federation mondiale des communautés de vie chrétienne (FMCVX) -- Federación Mundial de las Comunidades de Vida Cristiana (FMCVX) -- Weltverband der Gemeinschaften Christlichen Lebens -- Federazione Mondiale delle Comunità di Vita Cristiana, and new General Principles adopted 1967, Rome. Present name and revised General Principles adopted by World CLC Assembly, 7 Sep 1990, Guadalajara (Mexico); canonically confirmed by the Holy See, 3 Dec 1990.

Become committed Christians in bearing witness to those human and Gospel values with the Church and society which affect the dignity of the person, the welfare of the family and the integrity of creation.
