History

1 Nov 1974, London (UK), with annex and final act of the international conference on safety of life at sea, 1974. Replaces International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1960 (SOLAS). A few countries have not yet ratified the Convention and are still Parties to the 1960 Convention. Protocols: Protocol of 1978 Relating to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974; Protocol of 1988 Relating to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS PROT 1988).
