Accelerate the transfer, adaptation and expansion of NGO initiatives demonstrating how urban communities can organize themselves to access basic environmental services. Provide financial, technical and administrative support to Asia-Pacific urban NGOs and NGO coalitions working in neighbourhood initiatives related to: solid waste disposal, clean air and water, energy and shelter; reversing degradation of urban land and ecosystems; avoiding occupation of hazard-prone areas; addressing issues related to sustainable livelihood, women and children; drawing public attention to such problems. Strengthen indigenous organizations. Support communications, networking and coalition building activities.Available with paid subscription only.
Currently has national programmes in India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Serves as Secretariat of Urban Management Programme for Asia and the Pacific (UMPAP).
