Founded 30 Nov 1963, Paris (France), as Europa Nostra - International Federation of Non-Governmental Associations for the Protection of Europe's Cultural and Natural Heritage -- Europa Nostra - Fédération internationale des associations pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel et naturel de l'Europe. Subsequently also referred to as Europa Nostra - Pan-European Non-Governmental Organization for the Protection of Europe's Architectural and Natural Heritage -- Europa Nostra - Organisation pan-européenne non-gouvernmentale pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine architectural et naturel de l'Europe and Europa Nostra - Pan-European Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations for the Protection of Europe's Architectural and Natural Heritage -- Europa Nostra - Fédération pan-européenne d'organisations non-gouvernementales pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine architectural et naturel de l'Europe and finally Europa Nostra - Pan-European Federation for Heritage -- Europa Nostra - Fédération pan-européenne du patrimoine culturel. Aims

Put heritage and its benefits in the mainstream of public consciousness and illustrate its importance as a building block of European identity; make heritage a priority for public policies both at European and national levels; promote, at the European level, high standards of quality in the fields of heritage conservation, architecture, urban and rural planning; advocate a balanced and sustainable development of urban and rural, built and natural environment.
