Founded 17-21 Oct 1977, at 1st Conference, following recommendations, 12-15 May 1976, Istanbul (Turkey), of 7th K-XF4192 - Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM). Foundation was preceded by the setting up, Dec 1949, Karachi (Pakistan), of U-XJ7228 - International Federation of Islamic Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which no longer exists. Statutes adopted 17 Dec 1978. Originally known as Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Commodity Exchange (ICCICE) -- Chambre islamique de commerce, d'industrie et d'échange de marchandises. Subsequently changed title to Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) -- Chambre islamique de commerce et d'industrie (CICI), Nov 1992, Teheran (Iran Islamic Rep). Also referred to as Islamic Chamber.
Strengthen closer collaboration in the field of trade, commerce, information technology, banking, promotion of investment opportunities and joint ventures in the Member countries.
