Derives from 'Cape Town Talent Exchange', set up Feb 2003, Cape Town (South Africa). Registered, Oct 2008, as a not-for-profit company under Section 21 of the Companies Act of South Africa.

Aims

As an Internet-based trading network, allow participants to exchange goods and services without using money; focus on providing and requesting what is really needed; create an environment of openness and transparency; promote equality, fairness and balance; assist in respecting the environment; bring the advantages of a trading network to those unable to get credit or loans by traditional methods; enable marginalized communities to become self-sustaining.
