History
4 May 1996, Tashkent (Uzbekistan), based on Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, on establishment of the Centre. Agreement on establishment of CARICC signed 24 Jul 2006. As of 1 Nov 2007, operating in pilot regime, and as of 1 Jun 2010, officially in normal mode. Established within the framework of UNODC Project AD/RER/H22, "Establishment of Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre".
Aims
Serve as a permanent regional information coordination interstate body to assist in organizing, implementing and coordinating agreed joint international operations to combat illicit drug trafficking; ensure collection, storage, protection, analysis and exchange of information on cross-border crime related to drug trafficking.
