Founded May 2005, as Global Rust Initiative (GRI), by Dr N E Borlaug. Set up under its current form by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), E-XE0270 - International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, B-XB0971 - FAO and Cornell University (USA).
Systematically reduce the world's vulnerability to stem, yellow, and leaf rusts of wheat; advocate and facilitate the evolution of a sustainable international system to contain the threat of wheat rusts and continue the enhancements in productivity required to withstand future global threats to wheat.
