Founded by the Belgian Government. Inaugurated 30 Mar 1998. Operational from 31 Mar 1998.
Aims
Acting only in the interests of the child, with discretion and professional secrecy: actively support the investigation of disappearance, abduction or sexual exploitation of children; prevent and combat the disappearance of children and all forms of sexual exploitation of children. Ensure follow-up and participate in counselling of victims and those around them; act as a lobby and pressure group with respect to public opinion and politicians; cooperate on a complementary basis with official and private bodies at national, European and international levels.
