Foster research and exchange of scientific knowledge on the properties of the solid earth including crustal, mantle, and core materials, including mechanical, thermodynamic, electrical, optical and magnetic properties of earth materials from ambient conditions to high temperatures and pressures, representing all conditions below the earth's surface.
